“Lundies really is extraordinary. It’s a complete hidden gem and staying here feels like you’re in on a very special secret. Interiors and setting aside, the food here is a huge highlight. During our stay, breakfast and supper were always a surprise and something we found ourselves anticipating hugely. If you want, they’ll send you off with a packed lunch for beach exploring days – doorstop sandwiches wrapped in beeswax paper and string. Heaven." — Sarah
ROOMS
Our guest experience was in one of the studios, because there was a dog in tow and these are the room categories where the four-legged are welcomed. Set in the original steading buildings, these lodgings are surprisingly stripped back and have a loft feel to them. Exposed brick walls, Crittal windows, heated polished concrete floors etc. Studio 6 was ours which is the largest and has a work space and small mezzanine sitting area – so a good one if you’re staying awhile.
There are four rooms in the main house which are much more in keeping with the rest of the decor. Elegant and spacious with period details, large shuttered windows and a palette of calm neutrals, they’re each punctuated with features like freestanding cast iron tubs or pieces of iconic Danish design.
SPACES
Every downstairs room is a design spectacle. The olive green Plain English kitchen with its impressive La Canache cooker; the dining room with its mesmerising wall mural by French botanical artist Clare Basler; and the cosy sitting room and snug where an honesty bar makes you feel evermore at home here. Head outdoors to the herb gardens where there's a tranquil stream plus a Nymph Pool for cold dips and beyond sea views across the Kyle and historic Castle Bharrich bring our the adventurer in anyone.
Some places just feel like home, but better. Lundies is one such. A generous and beautifully appointed home to say the least, there’s something about the size of the living spaces and the way the whole place lives and breathes that puts you at such ease. You feel looked after in the most understated way – never bothered, but constantly and quietly cared for.
